The holiday season is an incredibly hectic time for everyone, but when one Western Australia cop found out a child would be going without a Christmas present after it got lost, he put everything aside to return it.
“A nice gentlemen handed in a present which he found on the highway,” said Senior Constable Dickenson, who couldn’t bear thte thought of a child going without a present. “It was all wrapped up and had a first name on it and then it just had ‘from uncle’, so we didn’t have a great deal to go on.”
But the recipient’s name, Haseem, seemed familiar to Dickenson and thought it might be the same boy who had recieved a police road safety award earlier in the year. “I hunted through a heap of the old archive records and found this kid’s surname and through a bit of searching around got an address,” he said.
Dickenson didn’t want to risk it getting lost in the mail so he decided to drive the present to the address himself. “As soon as we turned up with his big present he was all grins, he was just very happy,” he said. “I think he knew, his uncle must have said something to him, he knew he had a present missing.”
“He’s a very good cop and I couldn’t thank him enough for dropping it off,” mom Kalissa Aubrey said about the cop who went above and beyond to save Christmas for her son. “He was over the moon when I told him it was getting dropped off from the policeman , it’s sitting under the Christmas tree waiting for Sunday”
