Hikers Find Lost Dog And Carry Her Over Three Miles To Safety

A group of hikers made their way through a secluded area of Australia’s Mt. Glorious National Park when they heard a splashing up ahead.

They approached quietly, unsure if a wild animal was lurking in the water, maybe a kangaroo or a platypus, but they were stunned at what they saw. It turns out a chubby dog was struggling to free herself from the water, so the hikers decided to help.

The dog must have fallen into a deep part of the creek and became exhausted as she struggled to climb out.

The hikers knew they needed to help and created a noose from a rope, using a long stick to help the dog out of the freezing water

Terrified and confused, the dog tried to escape her rescuers by going up the creek bed.

At this point, the hikers became afraid they may lose her, so they surrounded her, and tried to devise a plan. The female hiker made her way to the dog and sat nearby to reassure her for a few minutes.

Soon, she made her way closer and reached out her hand to scratch behind the dog’s ears. The happy pup rewarded her with a lick on the hand, and after a little while, the dog began to trust the hikers.

They created a harness out of their climbing ropes, and the dog, who they named Miss Piggy seemed too tired to climb over the rough terrain. The hikers created a device to carry Miss Piggy in, and finally, she was on her way to safety.

The men carried the 85-90lb dog for 45 minutes until they back at their car.

By this time, Miss Piggy had transformed into a new dog. She was wagging her tail and smiling from ear to ear.

The hikers posted Miss Piggy’s photo online and they found out that she did have an owner, and she belonged to a man named Elly-Bob.

Apparently, the dog, whose real name is Bobby had escaped her owner’s yard 10 miles away and wound up by the water.

Bobby was missing for a surprising three weeks! Despite the ordeal, Bobby is in good health and her owner is very grateful to the hikers for rescuing her.
