News Reporter Rescues A Man From Drowning On Live TV

KTRK Houston’s news reporter Steve Campion was live on the scene covering the flooding that swept the state, when he saw something unbelievable happen.

Campion witnessed the moment that two cars drove straight into rising waters. From the video below, you see a Honda Insight drive straight into the water.

Witnessing the event, Campion says, “Oh my God. What, what do we do? I don’t wanna… ugh…” Apparently he didn’t want to get in those waters until absolutely necessary, so instead he decided to help the driver in the Honda by yelling at him.

As soon as the dazed and confused driver gets out of the car, Campion says, “DUDE, you gotta get out of the car. You gotta get out!” “What do I do?” says the victim.

Campion and his crew then responded, “Swim. Leave the car. Swim.” The victim asks, “Stay in the car?” and Campion yells, “Swim. Swim. Leave the car. Swim.”

Once Campion sees the victim is actually swimming, he jumps in the action right as it unfolds.

Campion guided the man out of the water, and asked, “Did you just not think the water was that deep?” The man responded, “I didn’t think the water was that deep.”

The man, who later identified himself as Andy, tried to turn back to the vehicle but Campion said, “You’ve got to leave the car.” Just moments later, the car slipped below the water’s surface.
