The final weeks of pregnancy are an amazing time for first-time parents. When they’re not counting down the days, most new parents are busy building cribs, setting up the nursery, and stocking up on diapers.
In the final weeks of pregnancy, one young Oklahoma mom-to-be was coming to terms with being a single mom when her boyfriend abandoned her and their unborn child. But one day, police got an anonymous call about what really happened to the 18-year-old father…
Counting Down The Days
In September 2017, 18-year-old Anthony Pietrzak and his pregnant girlfriend were impatiently counting down the days until their baby would arrive and their lives would completely change forever. The baby was due in a month so the couple was busy getting everything in order.
Anthony and his girlfriend were both young to be parents, but they wanted the best for their baby. The Oklahoma couple was committed to doing everything they possibly could to ensure their unborn child was given the best life possible…
As the due date got closer and closer, however, Anthony was nowhere to be found. It appeared that Anthony couldn’t deal with the responsibility of being a parent and had skipped town leaving his girlfriend alone to care for the newborn all by herself.
A Mother’s Instinct
Anthony’s mother refused to accept that her son had abandoned her future grandchild. She knew he would never abandon his own child and knew that something must have happened to Anthony for him to disappear just weeks before the birth of his first child…
Anthony’s mother called the Tulsa police to report that her son had been missing for 3 days and explained that it was extremely out of character for the 18-year-old. Meanwhile, the police had already been called about the missing young man.
In late September, just days before Anthony’s first child was expected to be born, Tulsa Police officers received a tip from their anonymous Crime Stoppers line. The person on the phone confirmed what Anthony’s mother already believed…
The anonymous tipster claimed Anthony hadn’t run away. Instead, the person claimed that something much worse happened to the father-to-be. According to the caller, Anthony had been beaten to death and dismembered by his murderers.
An Investigation Begins
The caller went on to explain that his killers were 40-year-old Tracy Price and 46-year-old Dearld Peal Jr., who was the father of Anthony’s girlfriend and the mother of his unborn child. The Police started looking into the claims and were stunned by what they found…
The 66th Homicide
As Tulsa Police officers started looking into the story, they quickly realized they were dealing with the 66th homicide of the year. “They called back and said, ‘Wow this is looking like it may be credible,'” said Tulsa Police Sergeant Dave Walker.
The caller claimed that they witnessed Peal and Price getting into an argument with Anthony on September 22. The person said they saw the two older men brutally beating Anthony before throwing him in the back of their truck and driving off…
Police Press Release
“Detectives located a witness that observed a male being thrown out of a residence, … beaten, hogtied and thrown in the back of a pickup,” Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker said in a press release. After tracking down witnesses, the officers were later able to find more details about the exact time and location of the incident.
With the eye-witness information, police were able to piece together the night. Price and Peal went to Anthony’s home, beat him, and then threw him out a window. Anthony wasn’t in good shape but the two men weren’t done with him yet…
After beating Anthony, Peal and Price hogtied him and threw his body in the back of a truck. They put a pillowcase over Anthony’s head and then drove to a field. By that point, Anthony had died from the injuries sustained during the beating.
Finding The Body
Peal and Price dumped Anthony’s body in the field where they thought no one would find him or think to look. However, just a few days later, the detectives on the case discovered Anthony’s beaten body where the two men had left him…
Peal (left) and Price (right) were arrested shortly after and charged with kidnapping, as well as first-degree murder once Anthony’s body was found. The two men were held without bail as the police worked to figure out what else happened that night and what the motive was for the brutal killing.
While in police custody, Peal told detectives that Anthony had beaten his pregnant daughter, whose name has not been released to the media. She later told her father about the abuse and asked up to 3 men to beat him up as punishment for what he did to her…
“She got these … individuals to beat up her boyfriend because she alleged he was beating on her,” Officer Jeanne MacKenzie said. “I don’t know if they were just gonna teach him a lesson and it got way out of hand,” Sgt. Walker added. “Reports are that he was fighting for his life and he lost…”
A Different Story
Peal’s daughter claimed Anthony was the one physically abusing her while she was pregnant, but Anthony’s mother told police a very different story. According to the devastated mother, Anthony’s girlfriend was actually the one beating Anthony…
The Tulsa police are still investigating the incident to get to the truth. Detectives also explained that more arrests are possible since they believe that there was a third man involved in the murder. “If he wants to come in and give us a story we will gladly take it,” Sgt. Walker said.
“It’s very horrific. Just beating someone to death, there’s no other way to describe it,” Officer MacKenzie said. “Their intent was not to teach a lesson, it was to ultimately get away with murder and that failed,” Sgt. Walker said about the attack.
