We all live with our own fears, yet some are bigger than others. Millennials today live with fears surrounding home ownership, debt, commitment, and social media.
However, what if your fears were bigger than that? What if someone was out to get you and you felt like you had no one to turn to? The following story is one that made headlines after a man’s biggest nightmare came true. It all started in the beautiful city of Clovis, California…
A Modest Upbringing
Born in 1960, Mrs. Schuster grew up on a farm in Clarance, Missouri. She went on to study biochemistry and work in a local nursing home, where she met her future husband, Timothy. Tim was also a student at the nursing school and in 1982, the couple got married and had two children, Kristin and Tyler.
After the birth of their children, the family moved to Fresno, California and then to Clovis, California. Clovis is a wealthy area and they were able to move there because Mrs. Schuster had a well-paying career in the lucrative laboratory business. She eventually opened her own lab while Tim worked as an administrator at a medical center.
Not So Rosy
As great as their relationship looked, Tim and Larissa’s marriage soon fell apart and by 2002, they were planning on getting a divorce. Mrs. Schuster often complained about Tim’s incompetence and she had an affair when she was at a conference in Chicago.
What’s Mine And What’s Yours
When the couple separated, they fought for custody over the children and over their belongings and their home. Eventually, Mrs. Schuster was granted both custody of the children and the home. A devastated Tim was forced to move out of the humble abode and into a condominium…
Making Her Son Do The Dirty Work?
Months after Tim moved out, Schuster broke into Tim’s condominium to steal some belongings she believed to be hers. She even told her manicurist that she had her son steal belongings from Tim’s condo because her son “would do anything for her.”
Schuster soon started leaving threatening and abusive voicemails on Tim’s phone, all of which he saved. “You are such a wimp, you have no spine. I hope to God you burn in hell one of these days, and you will,” she said.
The Threats Worsened
In another voicemail, Schuster said, “I’ll tell you what, this is going to come back to haunt you. You talk about me alienating your kids, you’re doing a damn good job yourself. And you just wait, it’s coming, sweetheart.” Now, Tim feared for his life so he decided to purchase a handgun.
He Never Showed Up
On July 10, 2003, Tim was scheduled to meet a friend for breakfast, although he never showed up. He was also supposed to pick his son up from Schuster, but again, he was a no-show. Where was Tim hiding?
It became evident that Tim was missing and Schuster was brought in for questioning but denied knowing anything. Despite Tim being gone, Schuster took her son on vacation to San Antonio, Missouri and Disney World. During the search for Tim, one of Schuster’s employees, James Fagone, was brought in for questioning.
While he initially denied any involvement in Tim’s disappearance, he soon changed his tune. During the interrogation, James confessed that he and Larissa had murdered Tim and that he was forced by Schuster to participate. She had offered him money to do so…
James confessed that on July 9, Schuster persuaded Tim to open his front door by pretending that their son was sick. When he opened the door, she shot him with a stun gun, put him in a chloroform soaked rag and drove him to her house.
The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth
Next, Tim and Schuster bound his feet and hands with plastic zip ties and shoved the still breathing Tim head first into a barrel filled with hydrochloric acid. He flopped around as acid was poured over his body and James said the fumes were so strong that they burned his lungs…
The Acid Lady
When Schuster was unable to seal the lid, she used a handsaw to cut off her husband’s feet. The crime was a horrendous one and Schuster’s vacation was cut short after Tim confessed. She immediately became known as the Acid Lady and was portrayed as a cruel and domineering wife.
A Black Heart
It is believed she killed Tim to gain more from his death rather than divorcing him. The couple signed a living trust plan in 1999 which stated that if Tim died before Larissa, that she would inherit his retirement savings, collect his life insurance and receive half of their shared assets.
Schuster Expressed To Her Manicurist That She Wish Tim Were Dead
During the trial, several witnesses came forward telling the court of Larissa’s actions throughout the couple’s 19-year relationship. One witness was Larissa’s manicurist, Terri Lopez, who revealed that Larissa often expressed her desire that Tim was dead.
Tim Said Something Chilling To The Manicurist Before His Death
Terri also knew Tim and shortly before his death, he told her, “You know that if anything happens to me, it won’t be an accident. You know what she’s capable of. Take care.” That was the last time Terri ever spoke to Tim…
Both James and Larissa were sentenced to life in prison without parole. During the trial, Larissa and Tim’s daughter, Kristen, took the stand and stared at her evil mother straight in the eyes.
“A Pitiful Excuse For A Human”
She said, “You’ve given up all rights as a mother, wife, daughter, friend, and woman. You’re a disgrace to this family, a pitiful excuse for a human. I pray you’re continually haunted at night by the sight and sound of my father fighting for his last breathing moments on earth.”
Her Daughter’s Wish
If she could have it her way, Kristen wishes her mother would have been sentenced to death. She knew that the divorce was nothing that her father ever wanted, but he absolutely never wanted to end up dead.
After the trial, many of Tim’s family and friends came forward emphasizing how much Tim wanted his marriage to work. After Larissa continued to terrorize him, Tim was even learning to stick up for himself, but it was all too late.
