The 5 Funniest Friends Episodes Of All Time

The 5 Funniest Friends Episodes Of All Time

The sitcom ‘Friends” is said to be the best sitcom ever made for TV. We take a look at the 5 funniest ‘Friends’ episodes

Created by David Crane and Martha Kauffman friends aired for the first time on NBC back in September 1994. It was nominated for 63 Emmy awards making it unquestionably one of the most successful shows of all time. The series is set in an apartment block in Manhattan focusing around the lives of roommates who become friends or are related.

There are lots of shows to watch so why was ‘Friends” so successful?

This is of course a subjective question as personal taste is just that… Personal. There must be something though unique about friends that made it the best TV sitcom of all time. It may have something to do with the cleverly written story lines, light-hearted humor and characters than many people can relate to easily. The creators and producers of friends got just the right balance of good ole’ American humor and great quality stories.

1: ‘The one with the embryos’ – Season 4, Episode 12

This episode was a classic and was voted one of the best Friends episodes ever. You remember this one where the two girls, Monica and Rachel battle Joey and Chandler in a trivia contest after they make a bet for the fate of the girls apartment. This is classic friends at it’s best.

2: ‘The one with the flashbacks of thanksgiving – Season 5, Episode 8

There were a few friends episodes which flashed back to Ross and Monica’s childhood all of which were much loved and very popular at the time. After the friends discuss why Monica became a chef and why poor Chandler was missing a part of his big toe Phoebe goes into a ‘Phoebe’ story about her life as a Second world war nurse!

3: ‘The one where everyone finds out’ – Season 5, Episode 14

This episode, while hysterically funny was also a bit of a heart-wrencher with Ross’s closing words being (after a long, genius plot) “No, no, no get off my sister!!!!” This is of course after a long twisting story where Phoebe sees Monica and Chandler together from the apartment across the way for the first time. Even though they are trying to conceal their relationship they get caught. Until now Ross is the only one out of the loop, until he sees his sister with Chandler of course!

4: ‘The one with the prom video’ – Season 2, Episode 14

Overall I don’t think this is the funniest Friends episode of all time and wouldn’t have put it in the top 5 if it weren’t for the last few minutes of the show, pure comedy genius! As the famous Ross/Rachel relationship breaks up the gang decide to watch a video of Monica’s prom video. As it becomes clear from the video that Ross has always been in love with her after all this episode has it all.

5: ‘The one where Chandler takes a bath’ – Season 8, Episode 13

This has to by one of my favorite ever Friends episodes. I guess this is because I relate to Chandler the most of all the Friends characters. After Monica cleverly convinces Chandler to take a very elaborate bath he ends up joined by the whole crew. With some brilliant comedy and classic Friends’ one liners this has to be one of the funniest episodes of all time.
