1: Finding Nemo

Made in 2003 in a joint venture between Pixar and Walt Disney pictures Finding Nemo is a classic in the world of animation. Portraying the story of an overly protective father fish who loses his son Nemo in a heart wrenching episode with some australian deep sea divers. The young Nemo is then forced ‘into captivity’ in a fish tank located in a Sydney dentists surgery. The heart warming reunion after a gallant effort by Marlin to find his son makes this a winner for our best 6.

2: Toy story

Toy story was produced originally back in 1995 by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution. This film netted over $360 Dollars at the box office with sequels; Toy Story 2 (1999) and Toy Story 3 (2010) following suit with equal success. Featuring the voice of Tom Hanks as Woody, the sheriff toy belonging to Andy, an average kid with a toy box full of the characters that make up this epic movie.

3: Monsters, Inc.

This feature-length comedy movie was produced by Pixar in 2001 and was their fourth production. With John Goodman at the helm as the voice for James P. Sullivan (Sulley). Sulley is a large furry blue monster with horns who works as chief ‘scarer’ at the Monsters, Inc factory which processes energy it obtains from children’s screams for its residents. Accompanied by the hysterical and lovable Mike Wazowski, that little one eyed, green monster this is a wonderful example of quality animation and comedy classic.

4: Up

This Pixar classic of 2009 follows the life of the cranky Carl Fredricksen an elderly man who finds his marital home under threat by unscrupulous building developers. Instead of taking the ‘old age home option’ he takes the unprecedented step of attaching thousands of helium balloons to his house and taking to the skies accompanied by Russell, an unwitting boy scout he inherits on the way. This amazing, feature length film takes you on a journey into fantasy and is an entertaining watch for all the family.

5: Shrek

Produced in 2001 by DreamWorks, Shrek the lovable Scottish ogre meets Fiona, the lovable princess ogre and the rest is history. With voice talent provided by the hilarious Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy the ogre and his trusty steed make Shrek one of the best selling animation movies ever. It was so good in fact that they made three sequels, all following on cleverly from one another.

6: Ice Age

We finish off todays Best 6 with this wonderful animation movie. Blue Sky Studios in conjunction with 20th Century Fox released this in 2002 centering around the trials and tribulations of various animals some time in the ice age. With the unlikely posse of Manny the wooly mammoth, Diego the smilodon and Sid the giant ground sloth this movie has all the makings of a classic animation. With comedy and depth of plot in abundance Ice age earned its reputation as did it’s 3 sequels.
