Toddler Is Given Teddy Bears Made From Slain Dad’s Police Uniform

Police officers dedicate their lives to protecting their communities, and when one Missouri cop was out on duty one night, he tragically sacrificed his life to keep others safe.

Officer Blake Snyder and his partner had responded to a disturbance call on October 6, and when they arrived at the scene, they found the accused shooter sitting in a car. But when Snyder asked to see the man’s hands, he pulled out his gun and fatally shot Snyder, whose wife and young son were home and completely unaware that their lives had changed forever.

Snyder was laid to rest on October 13th, and since then, his devastated wife Elizabeth has received an incredible amount of support from the St. Louis community, which has helped her stay strong for their toddler son Malachi. “I am also thankful for every person who has generously helped support Chi and I,” Elizabeth wrote on her Facebook. “I’m not sure where we would be without you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Recently, someone in the community reached out and offered to repurpose Snyder’s uniform for the grieving mother and son so that they would always have a piece of him close by. And this past week, Malachi got to hold his new teddy bears for the first time and lit up when he saw what they were made of. “These beautiful bears were made for us from Blake’s uniforms,” Elizabeth wrote. “I’m thankful I have a bit of Blake still here with me.”
