30 Of The Toughest “Goodfellas” Quotes

Although it is over 20 years since the movie Goodfellas was first screened, many Goodfellas quotes have survived the test of time, and are remembered to this day

This iconic film has become a cult classic, if for no other reason than its dialogue includse the “F” word 296 times – that averages 2.04 “F”s per minute. So, our Life Daily researchers had their work cut out to produce a list of printable quotes, but we think we managed to maintain a reasonable balance, while still preserving the character of the film. The director, Martin Scorsese, allowed the actors to frequently ad-lib, which could lead one to speculate: Do Hollywood actors talk like that when they’re not acting?

Goodfellas was based on the book Wiseguy by Nicolas Pileggi, who also co- wrote the screenplay with Scorsese. Based on Pileggi’s own experiences, the movie comes across as authentic; these quotes give us an insight into a world with different moral values and concepts of honor

The style of the film includes much voice-over narration, which is indicated in our selection by the absence of quotation marks:

We hope we succeeded in conveying the atmosphere of this film with these Goodfellas quotes, but there is one quote from Henry Hill that we didn’t include. (Spoiler Warning) – When Henry has betrayed his friends and is in the witness protection program, he reflects on his previous life and says, sadly: I’m an average nobody… get to live the rest of my life like a schnook.
